About The Russian Library of America
Our Mission
The Russian Library of America, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon, is dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural learning and interaction. We function as a dynamic center for the development of verbal and visual communication, striving to bridge cultures and enrich the global intellectual landscape.
A Place for Discovery and Engagement
Our library is a place where readers, students, and scholars can learn about Russian culture and history, engage with literary works and paintings, and acquire Russian books and works of art. Through literary readings, live performances, art workshops, and art exhibitions, we create a vibrant space for creativity and dialogue.
From Scholarly Foundation to Augmented Content
The library was originally founded for the scholarly purpose of cataloging creative works, which involved the assessment and expert evaluation of Russian literature and visual arts, as well as the protection of authors' rights and the representation of their interests in the United States.
Building on this foundation and responding to public interest, our mission has expanded. Today, the library actively sponsors the creation of modern translations, scholarly interpretations, and visual adaptations.
Our Services and Reach
We provide our information resources to readers, students, and schools across the United States and worldwide, delivered in print or through remote methods. Furthermore, we offer specialized library and translation services to scientific, educational, and cultural institutions engaged with Russian-language content. |
